Falleció el arquitecto Mario Coyula

El insigne arquitecto y profesor Mario Coyula Cowley, Premio Nacional de Patrimonio Cultural (2013), falleció en la madrugada de este lunes 7 de julio víctima de cáncer. El también Premio Nacional de Arquitectura había nacido el 16 de junio de 1935 en La Habana, ciudad que amó y defendió a lo largo de su vasta carrera profesional, donde asumió, entre otras responsabilidades, la dirección de la Escuela de Arquitectura en la CUJAE. Asimismo, estuvo al frente de Arquitectura y Urbanismo de La Habana, del Grupo para el Desarrollo Integral de la Capital, y fue el primer presidente de la Comisión de Monumentos de la urbe.

Architect Mario Coyula passed away

The well-known architect and professor Mario Coyula Cowley passed away this Monday, July 7, in the early morning hours. He was born on June 16, 1935 in Havana, the city he loved and stood up for throughout his professional career. He was a recipient of the National Award in Cultural Patrimony (2013) as well as of the National Award in Architecture. In his life, among other responsibilities, he assumed the directorship of CUJAE’s School of Architecture, was the head of Architecture and Urbanism of La Habana and of the Group for the Integral Development of the City, as well as the first president of the Landmark Commission of the city.
